Sooryavansham is a 1999 Bollywood movie starring Amitabh Bachchan in a dual role, Soundarya, Rachana Banerjee, Anupam Kher and Kader Khan. Although the film was a box office flop critics hailed Amitabh Bachchan's performance as his best ever since his comeback in 1997.However, this film has become favourite of some TV channels which telecast this film again and again. The music is also good, especially the song 'dil mere too diwana hai' picturised on Heera (Amitabh Bachchan) and Radha (Saundarya) separately at least 3 times. It is the Hindi remake of the Tamil film Suryavamsam, starring Sarath Kumar and Devayani.

For generations the Sooryavansh family has ruled the village communities and its people justly and fairly. Current generation is headed by Thakur Bhanupratap Singh (Amitabh Bachchan) who is feared and respected in the village. He has 3 sons; the youngest named Heera (Amitabh in a dual role) is treated like a servant because he is the most illiterate of the family, and he will not have anything to do with him.
