Mulan is an announced English-language film directed by Jan de Bont, starring Zhang Ziyi as the titular heroine. The current status of the project is unknown.

The film is based upon the Chinese folk tale of Hua Mulan, popularized globally by Disney in their 1998 animated movie. Plans for an international real live Mulan film were first reported by Chinese media in July 2010. It was also claimed that Disney would invest 100 million dollars into the project, but a spokeswoman later discounted this as false. Wang Lee Hom was reportedly considered for the role of Captain Li Shang. However, later rumors alleged that this role had ultimately gone to Jerry Yan.

In September 2010, The Hollywood Reporter (THR) managed to obtain a copy of the film's casting call, which stated that production was at that point "in preparation in Beijing", was "set to move to Shanghai" on September 15, and would also utilize the lots of the Hengdian World Studios.
