Ethel Griffies (born Ethel Woods, 26 April 1878, Sheffield, Yorkshire – 9 September 1975, London) was an English actress of stage, screen, and television.

She appeared in numerous plays, 90 movies, and 10 TV episodes in a career that lasted from 1881 - when she was brought onstage as a baby by her parents - until 1967. She played Grace Poole in two versions of Jane Eyre, the 1934 Monogram and the 1943 versions.

One of her last roles was as the elderly ornithologist in Alfred Hitchcock's The Birds (1963).
